Bud Falgoust died peacefully at his home on December 31, 2012. Born February 25, 1926 in Vacherie, LA and a resident of St. James, LA, Bud was a retired sugarcane
farmer,commercial real estate agent, and sergeant of the US Army Air Force. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Schexnayder Falgoust, and four children, son Dr. Gerard Fernand Falgoust and wife, Lori Sims Falgoust, daughter Lisa Falgoust Waguespack and husband Charles, daughter Michele Falgoust Cancienne and husband John and son, Brian Richard Falgoust and wife, Leslie Evans Falgoust. Survived by 12 grandchildren, Joseph (Joey) Falgoust and wife, Jodi, Scott Falgoust, Benjamin Falgoust, Rebecca Falgoust, Sara Waguespack Borne and husband, Sidney, Ross Waguespack, Dana Waguespack Pinkstaff and husband, Brad, John Paul Cancienne and wife, Elizabeth, Jourdan Cancienne, Angelle Cancienne, Evans Falgoust and Brett Falgoust, four great-grandchildren, Lily Borne, Andrew Borne, Caroline Cancienne and Jack Bradley Pinkstaff. Preceded in death by his father, J. Fernand Falgoust, Sr., his mother, Nelva Scioneaux Falgoust, his sister, Thelma Falgoust Smith and her husband, John. He graduated from St. James High School and attended Soulee Business College until volunteering for the United States Army Air Force based in Manila and Tokyo. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Victory Ribbon. He returned to begin farming with his father. After retiring from farming, he became a commercial real estate agent. Bud enjoyed contributing his time and talents to his community on the 1st American Bank and Trust Board of Directors for 21 years, West St. James Parish Farm Bureau President, American Farm Bureau Sugar Committee, Knights of
Columbus, Lions Club, and Ascension Catholic Men's Club President. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers Adeline Williams and Bobbie Williams as well as the nurses and staff of St. Joseph Hospice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2 from 9 to 11 at St. James Catholic Church in St. James, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Ascension Catholic Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be his eight grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Greater Baton Rouge Cancer Services, 550 Lobdell Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70806 or St. James Catholic Church, 6613 LA Highway 18, St. James, LA 70086.
