Terrance “Terry” Sean Narofsky, age 57, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021. Terry was born in Elgin, Illinois to Nancy and Seymour Narofsky. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1978 where Terry met the love of his life, Cindy, and they began the adventure of a lifetime. Terry was an extraordinary husband, father, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and papa. (As Terry’s favorite movie was Fiddler on the Roof, he looked forward to his grandchildren calling him Papa.) His family was his greatest joy and he loved them to the depth of his soul.
Terry began his career in Tucson with Jones Cable’s mailroom, going onward to achieve positions with Cox Cable and Time Warner before joining the Comcast family as Senior Director of Construction in Atlanta, Georgia. Terry’s career spanned living in nine states. His pride and daughter, Shannon, would work on the same floor with him at Comcast. Living in Georgia provided Terry with his most significant opportunity; to spend quality time and shower love on his grandchildren, Moyra, Anthem and Emmeline.
Terry loved to learn and develop skills to create new ideas and reveal his capabilities. He earned his Associate Degree from Pima Community College in Tucson before earning his Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix in Lincoln, Nebraska. Terry was a recipient of the UofP Life-Long Learner Scholarship to achieve a Master of Business Administration in Charlotte, North Carolina. Terry contributed his success in earning a BSM and MBA to his wife’s steadfast support.
Terry’s heart was full of joy with a smile that welcomed all. He demonstrated compassion and understanding to all he encountered. He loved investing time to develop and mentor others. People who worked for him called him a leader, an inspiration, a teacher, a mentor, a team player and ‘a truly great person to work for’. He allowed his team to grow as individuals which made for a better team dynamic. Terry had an innate ability to connect with people whether he knew them for five minutes or 10 years. He made them feel unique and valuable. One of Terry’s greatest gifts was that of being a good listener. He did not just hear what you had to say, he had a warm comment that let you know he cared about what you had to say and that your concerns were important to him.
Terry was a man of courage, strength and resilience. As a cancer survivor, he did not sit idly by; he understood how precious life and time were and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed camping, off-roading, snowboarding, river trips, and LOVED to golf. He also enjoyed a fine cigar and a glass of smooth scotch with his close friends. Terry lived well, loved fiercely and made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will forever be missed by all those he loved and through those that loved him.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Seymour, and his brother, Gordon Patrick Narofsky. He leaves behind his loving wife of 32 years, Cindy; daughter, Shannon and son-in-law, Lance; and his three beautiful grandchildren, Moyra, Anthem and Emmeline; his mother, Nancy; sister, ElizaBeth (Dave); and his brother, Thom (Dorene).
Per his living wish, he did not want a memorial or a service. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in memory of Terry to the Colon Cancer Coalition, 5666 Lincoln Drive, Suite 270, Edina, MN 55436 or https://coloncancercoalition.org
Terry’s last defiant proclamation was to pass on March 1st, which happens to be the first day of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The first Friday of March is Dress in Blue Day. He would have appealed to everyone to ‘Get Screened’.
