Nancy Stasiewicz passed away early on the morning of November 28th, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born on August 22nd, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nancy and her three siblings looked out for each other from a young age. She spent much of her childhood caring for her younger sister Sharon before meeting the love of her life, Richard, at the age of 18, while working as a long-distance telephone operator. Soon, she had three small kids and–as a result of Richard’s job–left the only place she had ever called home, relocating to central Ohio where she lived for the rest of her life. Nancy held her family close to her heart always, taking a loving and active role in their lives, being particularly close to her grandchildren. Her great grandchildren brought a special joy to her later years.
Never without lipstick on, rarely a hair out of place, a wrinkle to her clothes, or a nail unmanicured, Nancy was always put together. She loved serving on her condo association to keep her community put together as well. Nancy had boundless energy, never sitting still running circles around her kids and grandkids. She was intelligent, strong, respectful, well-spoken, well-mannered, and always knew when it was better to just let something go. She was a woman with impeccable timing in everything she did and said (and didn’t do or say). Nancy made friends wherever she was, and conversation wherever there wasn’t.
She was a woman of strong faith, keeping a picture of her favorite pope, St. John Paul the Great, on her nightstand along with a Rosary blessed by him. Nancy would make a return trip to the Vatican in 2016 to have it blessed by Pope Francis as well.
Her voracious appetite for literature showed no bounds; her bookshelves were packed with books of all kinds, but especially history books. These accompanied a much loved historic events newspaper collection saved from a lifetime of keeping up with the news. Nancy was always happy to share her love of old movies, particularly “Some Like It Hot”, Audrey Hepburn, Paul Newman, and Susan Hayward.
We hope you take some of Nancy’s persistence, faith, refinement and kindness into the world and like her, hope you’re surrounded by loved ones and cerulean blue everything,
Nancy is survived by her children, Brian (Veronica) Stasiewicz, Karen (Joe) Stimpfl; grandchildren, Teri (Dan) Hull, Gina (Adam) Findlay, Julia (Jose) Polanco, John Stimpfl, Matt Stasiewicz; and great-grandchildren, Danny and Tommy Hull, Elliott and Hayden Polanco and Evelyn Findlay. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Richard Stasiewicz, and number one daughter, Suzanne Stasiewicz. Family and friends may call on Monday, December 5th, from 4-7PM at the Schoedinger Dublin location, 5980 Perimeter Dr., Dublin, OH 43017. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 6th, at 11AM at St. Brigid of Kildare Church, 7179 Avery Rd., Dublin, OH 43017. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to the Catholic Social Services of Columbus at colscss.thankyou4caring.org.
