Muriel 'Doreen' Bradshaw (Whittaker/Alexander) beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & aunt, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2020. She was 89.

Born in Saskatchewan on June 7,1931, the only daughter of the late Till and Eva (Dertell) Alexander and sister to three predeceased brothers, Percy, Harold and Kenn, & one surviving brother Gerry.

She was the beloved wife of her late husband Gordon Whittaker until his passing in 1989 and then the beloved wife to her second late husband, Clarence (Brad) Bradshaw until his passing in 2008. She leaves behind her dear brother Gerry, her 6 loving children, Debbie, Dean (Shawnah), Dawn, Dayle (Audrey), Drew (Wanda) & Darrin, as well as 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren & many nieces and nephews. She was well loved by family & friends & will be greatly missed. Her spirit lives on in our hearts forever.

Doreen, Gordon & their young family lived in Bowness, AB until 1964 when they moved to Duncan, BC. Doreen lived there for the next 44 years & worked as secretary for the Duncan Mental Health Unit for many years, as well as briefly for the Cancer Society & the Diet Centre. In 2008, she moved back to Alberta to be closer to family and lived in Cochrane Alberta until her passing.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to those that tirelessly & graciously cared for her at Points West Living care home in Cochrane for the past year, as well as the doctors & nurses that cared for her during her last week of her life in the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.

Due to restrictions beyond our control, we are sad to say there will not be a funeral service at this time. A memorial service is planned for next summer in Duncan, BC, with date to be determined & announced later. The family invites you to visit First Memorial Funeral Services website in Duncan (www.dignitymemorial.com) to leave your condolences & memories & suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doreen's name to any of the following; Canadian Diabetes Assn (https://www.diabetes.ca), the ALS Society ( www.alsbc.ca) or the Heart & Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).

“God looked around His garden & found an empty place. He then looked down upon His earth & saw your loving face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. His garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He saw your path was difficult, He closed your tired eyes, He whispered to you “Peace be Thine”, and gave you wings to fly. It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, For part of us went with you on the day God called you home”

Mom left her children a copy of this letter " To Remember Me" which we wanted to share. Written in Mom's lovely handwriting, which remained as beautiful throughout the years, just as Mom did.
