Born November 22, 1929, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Olive was a proud descendant of Canada’s early immigrant families from the Selkirk settlers and others. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Winnifred Garven, her sister, Lillian Heighes, Olive’s husband of 54 years, Walter, and granddaughter Mariah.
Olive grew up in Saskatchewan during the depression years amongst loving parents and relatives, many of whom still reside there. Years after the passing of her father, Olive and her mother moved to Victoria where she married, raised her family and lived the majority of her life.
Olive is survived by her 8 children, David, Karen (Bill Fowler), Robert (Barb), Linda (Barry Petten), Glenn, Raymond (Elaine), Philip, Richard (Luisa) and many other loving relatives and friends.
Although all of her children aspired to be number one in her heart and often competed with each other for that prized possession, she had that unique ability to make us all feel we were special and loved unconditionally.
This ability was also evident in the next generations, as she was affectionately called “Nana Olive” by 20 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, 13 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and 1 nephew Fred (Heather) Gonneville.
Olive will be greatly missed and will remain always in our hearts.
Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date.
