It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Ana Kaminskas on the morning of Sept. 5th, 2023. Predeceased by her “one and only” husband Alfred. Will be lovingly missed by daughters Lucy (Stan), Yuliya and Susan (Richard). Loving Grandmother to Sean, Christopher (Andrea) and Colin (Tori). Great Grandmother to Teagan, Fraser and Jack. Wonderful sister and sister-in-law to Stase, Lina and Vida.
Our Mother’s journey has come to an end well after her 100th birthday. She was amazed to have reached that milestone and I think it gave her pleasure to beat the odds. Ana and our families journey from Lithuania, through the war to England and then to Canada; was shared in stories and remembrances that amazed and awed, made us laugh and cry. It was through those life stories that our living family can appreciate the sacrifice and hard work which would eventually lead to our own safe lives full of opportunity, joy and love. Thank you so much Mom (and Dad).
Ana was a thinker and philosopher at heart. She “listened” to people and life and shared what she learned when she thought it would help. Here are a few words from her that she has shared in the past:
“Forget your failures, they force you into despair. God, the Universe, wants us to be happy. Happiness is a sense of inner peace and contentment. If you can live your life with love in your heart, you will have peace. Learn to appreciate yourself as you are and your life as it is. Happiness doesn’t depend on other things. It depends on you…and SMILE!
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Good Shepherd would be appreciated by the family.
