Mrs. Young was born on October 2, 1947 in Martin County, NC to the late Robert Beacham and Sudie Faye Coletrain Beacham.
Ruby lived every day for the Lord. Accepting Christ as her savior the same day as her husband Matthew. She was a devoted member of Taylors Chapel Church.
She was her husband’s rock; beside one another doing everything possible together. Ruby loved her family known as “meme” to everyone.
Ruby loved karaoke started it 28 years ago when they were married. They loved playing cards and putting puzzles together. Family time was the utmost important. She cherished time with her family; visiting the beach was one of those special moments with Matthew. Ruby, loved to cook sharing a good home cooked meal with anyone.
In addition to her parents, preceding Ruby in death is a niece, Lindsey Jordan Barefoot, and several brothers and sisters.
Left behind to carry on her legacy is her loving husband, of 28 years Pastor Matthew Scott Young, Sr., of the home; two sons, Timmy Barefoot (Robin), of Newport News, VA and Raymond Barefoot, of Butler, NC; two stepsons, Matthew Young, Jr. (Angie), of Roseboro, NC; Shawn Young (Charity), of Dunn, NC; a brother, James Corbett Barefoot, of Newton Grove NC; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Some special friends, Alexis Cordero, Josiah Cordero, and Pastor Doug and Connie Howard, also survive Ruby.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Taylors Chapel Church sharing memories in fellowship.
A celebration of life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Taylors Chapel Church with Pastor Doug Howard and Rev. David Denton officiating.
Burial will immediately follow at Blackmans Grove Church Cemetery.
