Carmelina (Lauretti) Rick, 89, of East Hartford passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Born in Hartford on August 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alexandro and Pasqualina (Pandozzi) Lauretti and had lived in the area all her life. Carmelina graduated from East Hartford High School and then continued her training at St. Francis School of Nursing in 1950 and retired from St. Francis Hospital after 40 years of dedicated service. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in East Hartford for over 80 years. Carmelina volunteered for many years at the St. Mary’s Food Bank and received the St. Joseph Medal Award for her tireless service to the community. She also enjoyed being a member of the St. Mary’s Women’s Club and the St. Francis Retirees Club. More than anything, she was a loving mother, sister, aunt and godmother who will be forever missed by her two sons, Marc Rick and wife Carolyn of Stoddard, NH and John Rick of East Hartford and his daughter Christina; her sister, Lenora Weir and husband William of Danvers, MA; three goddaughters, Susan, Patty and Jennifer and her godson, Anthony. Carmelina was also blessed by many caring nieces and nephews, particularly Sandra Cataldi and Richard Rick. She was predeceased by her former husband, Eugene Rick. The family is grateful for the many months of loving care provided by Sadie.
Funeral services will begin on Friday (January 25) at 8:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
