Marilyn "Lyn" Jeanne Marmon
September 20, 1926 – April 7, 2018
Marilyn “Lyn” Marmon, 91, of East Lansing, formerly of Okemos, Grand Ledge, and Naples, FL, passed away April 7, 2018 while a resident of Burcham Hills Retirement Center.
Marilyn was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota September 20, 1926 to Hazel and Arthur Rowley. She moved to Michigan as a child and Marilyn “swede” Graduated from Eastern High School and briefly attended Kalamazoo College.
She met Owen, her husband of 65+ years when he was home on leave from the war. They were married in 1946 and settled in Okemos. Her dream of having three daughters was fulfilled.
Lyn was a fulltime mother and homemaker. She volunteered at the school library, for Girl Scouts, delivered Meals on Wheels, and volunteered for 24 years at Sparrow Hospital. She loved flowers, dogs, the arts, playing cards, and had a chocolate ice cream every night! She was a true MSU fan as well as an avid reader. She enjoyed ladies day at Walnut Hills and twilight on Friday nights with Owen. Lyn and Owen travelled the world and in retirement, enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida.
Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Kreider-Ghiardi of DeWitt, Barbara Rock of Mason, and Rebecca Ballard of Haslett; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 niece and 2 nephews.
A private family gathering will take place to celebrate her life. Donations can be made to the Humane Society in her memory.
