Netress V. Palmer McMullen

She was born Jan. 5, 1922 in East Peoria to James S.S. and Violet (Kieswetter) Palmer. She married Harry E. McMullen Feb. 14, 1943 in Missouri. He passed away April 16, 2004 in East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon McMullen, one son, Timothy McMullen, and one brother, Benjamin Palmer.

Survivors include seven children: Viann Stehle of East Peoria, Harry J. McMullen of Peoria, Bette Sue (Leonard) Lamb of Peoria, Jeannie Alexander of Peoria, Nancy (Howard Bisco) Hughbanks of Washington, David McMullen of East Peoria, John McMullen of East Peoria, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Betty (Rudy) Snyder of East Peoria, and two brothers: James (Mary) Palmer of Lexington, KY, and Frank Palmer of Florida.

Netress worked for several businesses in the East Peoria area including Morton Pottery, Libby’s, and was a cook at Pleasant Hill School along with several restaurants.

She was a strong, caring, and loving woman. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

She was a member of CrossPoint Church in East Peoria.

Funeral services will be Friday June 20, 2014 at 12 Noon at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services.

Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the Peoria Children’s Hospital.
