He was born May 11, 1928 in Johnson City, TN to William “Haze” and Ruby (Bawgus) Orren. He married Beulah “Boots” Street in Johnson City, TN on Jan. 2, 1949. She survives.
Also surviving are his son, Keith (Jackie) Orren of Washington; 2 granddaughters, Dawn Orren of Washington, Melanie Bown of Sacramento, CA; 2 sisters, Carolyn (Bud) Tipton of Johnson City, TN, Gertrude Manley of Charlottesville, VA; sister-in-law, Brenda (Jim) Carl of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Jim and George Orren.
Bob was an avid golfer starting at the age of 9 and a member of several Peoria area leagues. He worked as a scheduling clerk at Caterpillar Inc, retiring in 1982 after 32 years of service. He was a volunteer fireman with Northern Tazewell Fire and Rescue for 33 years, retiring as the President of the Board of Trustees and held several positions throughout his years including President of the Rescue Squad. He was a Board Member of the North Tazewell Public Water District, retiring after many years of service. He served 50 years as a Master Mason for the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. He was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Sunnyland and loved his church family very much. After Bob passed he was a Gift of Hope Donor.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
