Leonard was an officer with the Chattanooga Police Department from 1969 – 2000. He began his career with the police department in the patrol division, as he continued on with the department he moved to the Traffic Division and he ultimately achieved the rank of sergeant where he served as supervisor in numerous roles. After 30+ years he retired, but eventually got bored and went to back to work in 2001 for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department with the courts as a civil process officer for another 13 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Grace Holbrook, and all his siblings.
Left behind to cherish Leonard’s memory are his wife of 48 years, Carolyn, son, Michael (Marybeth) Holbrook, both of Chattanooga, TN., and his daughter, Christy (Kevin) Sills, Chattsworth, GA., son, L. Paul Holbrook, Jr., Cedar Town, GA., daughters, Sherrie Holbrook, Plainville, GA., and Brenda Ward, Rossville, GA.,11 grandchildren, and many numerous friends.
A Celebration of Leonard’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Monday May 21, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. with Byron Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 20, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.
