April 20, 1932 – February 12, 2020
Known to her OK & KS friends as Kathleen and her Houston friends as Kathy, Anita Kathleen Wieland, 87, passed away Wednesday morning, February 12, 2020. She was born on April 20, 1932 in Reading, KS, to Naomi Gragg Fagan and James Vincent Fagan. She graduated from Reading High School and went to work in Emporia, KS where she met the love of her life, on a blind date. She and Donald Francis Wieland were marred for 67 years. They moved with their 2 children to Ponca City, OK in 1955, when Don started working for Continental Oil Company. Kathleen worked part-time while her children were young, then full-time for Dr. Yeary. Kathleen and Don started square dancing in Ponca City which led them to meeting many lifelong friends when they were transferred to Houston in 1973. While in Houston, they started taking camping trips with friends. Some of their happiest times were spent at Marina Village in Trinity, TX with other couples. Kathleen & Don were transferred to OKC in 1985. They chose to make their home in Edmond, close to their son, Steve and his family.
After retirement they enjoyed taking road trips around the country with Kathleen’s sister, Marylou, and other family members. They also enjoyed a couple of cruises, and a trip to Rome with her brother Larry and wife Penny.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Naomi Fagan, brothers Donald and Bob Fagan, and grandson Mark Steven Wieland.
Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & friend. She is survived by her husband Don, her daughter Debbie (Geoff) Russell of Sulphur, LA, her son Steve (Cherry) Wieland of Eufaula, OK, her brother, Larry (Penny) Fagan of Salina, KS, sisters Marylou Wagoner of Emporia, KS, Patty (Clinton) Ingram and Connie (Lou) Parcaro of Salina, KS. Grandchildren Alesha (Darren) Lucas of Sulphur, LA; Nicole (David) Burton of Eufaula, OK and Neil Wieland of OKC, Great grandchildren Aiden, Breanne and Cassidy Lucas of Sulphur, LA, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
