My condolences to the family of Mrs. Tracy.  I recently discovered that I am related to Treva and wanted to know if anybody kept up with her genealogy research.

Treva, You have always been an inspiration to me. Your strength in raising 5 children on your own is a true testament to that strength. I always enjoyed our trips to the Hat for pastrami sandwiches and then to Crown books. You leave behind a legacy of a wonderful family who will cherish our own memories of you until we see each other again. Rest in peace. Say hi to my mom for me!

Hi Mom.Wanted to share a memory that's been on my mind the last couple of day's.When I was in elementary school I would walk home for lunch.You would always have a hot bowl of Campbell's tomato soup and saltine crackers waiting for me.Thanks for those lunches Mom.Love,Your Son,Doug.

I miss you grandma. I wish I was there to say goodbye. I wish we had more holidays at grandma Vent's trailer. I remember playing with my cousins and every one was all together and weird as usual. I want to thank you for giving your children their unique weirdness and strength. I couldn't imagine living in a family that worried what else people thought and I know this strength and courage came from you.

Grandma Treva, I am so bad at these things...I hate it so much when people I care about die. I shut down completely and I don't want to accept it. I don't really know what to say so I guess I will take this as an opportunity to say all the things to you that I wish I could of before you passed. I have always felt like we are a lot a like and I wish that we could of spent more time together. I would of loved to have taken you gambling! I remember reading some of your favorite murder mystery books and just falling in love. They opened up such a world of curiosity for me. It made me so excited to know that some of my favorite books where also your favorites. I remember that year I picked you out like five Ann Perry books to send you cause I knew you would love them. I remember one year for my birthday you sent me a card with a photograph of you that said "Old lady in Red" cause you were wearing a red jumpsuit lol I kept it on my mirror in my bedroom. Than when I moved out I posted it in my dorm room in a photo collage. I felt like it captured your spunkiness perfectly. I still have it I want to find it to post on here. I wish I could of spent more time with you, I have a lot of regret and guilt that I didn't make it out to see you in these last years. I also hate that you didn't get to meet my daughters. They are amazing. You would of loved them. Charlotte is a pistol, and Bridgette is a clown. My mom said that you have their photographs posted on your refrigerator...that both kills me and makes me smile. I'm sorry I didn't take the time to visit you more. Dear Grandma Treva, I want to tell you just how special it has been to go visit you in San diego.  Some of my favorite memories were coming to see you!  I looked forward to when we would get to your apartment door, open it and see you sitting in your chair with curlers in your hair and you were always smiling.  You always had a special food item waiting for us too.  I remember when my Mom, Aunt Deanne, and Amanda drove out to see you and Uncle Dean and we arrived really late on Thanksgiving.  You had prepared an entire Thanksgiving dinner for us all and you had been waiting for us to eat with you. That was by far the best ever Thanksgiving dinner and memory ever! My heart has been sad at the thought of never returning to your apartment and sitting on your couch and listening to your funny stories.  I always tell my friends how smart and funny my Grandma was.  I love and miss you, Stefanie.

Mom, this is so hard to write. Most mornings I wake up and say"Please don't be dead today Mom".It's been a month now since we lost you. I still can't say good bye to you. It's just too damn hard. At your service we shared memories of you. There are so many to tell Mom. You sacrificed so much and worked so hard Mom. Just wish I had one more day to talk with you, one more phone call to tell you how much I love you. Thank you for encouraging and believing in me when I lost site of what road I should take next. You have held my hand through a lot of heart aches Mom. I just wish I had been there to hold your hand, when you left this Earth. I know you are out of pain now. I can picture you surrounded by all of our family in Heaven, laughing and telling stories.I Remember when you used to tuck me in at night when I was little. You would tell me the story of little red riding hood.I would cover my face with my hands when you got to the part of "Grandma, what big teeth you have". I remember trembling with excitement because I knew the minute I took by hands down you would be inches away from my face waiting to yell, "The better to eat you with my dear". I would scream and you would grab and hug me and kiss me good night. Not every kinda of kids bedtime story but I loved it Mom. I love you mom.

Dear Mommy,

I'm so sorry that I did't have a chance to write up my thoughts for you until now. My work has  been really crazy, but I'm glad that I finally have time to sit down and write this.

I still remember your clear, energetic voice when you left me a message before Thanks Giving after I called you. We missed each other, but we could still hear each other at least. I wanted to visit you then, but you said the twin would come in Jan so we should wait. We never knew that we missed that last chance to see each other. I'm so sorry. I still have that message you left on my phone and I can still listen to it again and again every time I think about you. You said "That will be a long, long drive for you to come here". That was so sweet of you. I wish we could have met few other times we planned but things didn't work out either.

One good thing that I can say is now you can meet Dean, can be together with him again as years ago. The fact that your family left Dean's ashes with you was very thoughtful of them. That made me feel moved and warm when I heard about that.

Looking at the pictures your family posted here for you, I remember back in the old days, I used to come to your place, I remember you cooked delicious meals for us. I also remember folding your clothes when I picked up the laundry in the back of your home. Not sure if you would understand this, but when I folded clothes for someone I loved, I really felt the love since it seemed to be so real, so simple but also so strong...

Rest in peace, mommy!! You've been always so strong, so independent, so happy, so dedicated your whole life to your children. So it's time now for you to rest, sleep and feel all the love we all have for you. I will never forget your happy voice, sometimes sounded like a little girl, and your warmest heart. Thanks for all the love you have for me, even after years apart. That makes me feel so special and thankful for being loved by you.

In the years I knew her I never really saw her all that often being in Colorado and I only visited a couple times  a year, but that doesn't mean I never got to know her because in the times I  visited her I saw a wonderful, heart warming, beautiful women and I was honored and  thankful to call her my grandma.  She was smart and funny and I liked how she was not  afraid to speak her mind! And when she did we all held our breath and then realized how funny, smart, and  right she was about whatever she was talking about,  I will always take care of the blue  yo-yo she gave me, love your grandson Ryan.

Seeing this photo of Treva takes me back to our high school days when I went to the New Year's Eve party with Hap.  How wonderful that she and Hap eventually married.  What a beautiful smile.  I know she will be missed greatly.  Thank you so very much for thinking of me regarding the Vent/Kelley keepsakes.  They will be greatly treasured, I assure you.

Hi Mom,checking in again! Primarily to see your beautiful picture again, again and again! You were always the very beautiful, smart, clevor, happy, people loving, political person.... even until the end. Your brain was smart and intact up until the end. I imagine that was the way you would have wanted it. I believe you would have made one heck of a great Nurse! Remember how you kept me out of the hospital with my terrible asthma attacks? You would create a steam tent over the couch. I would lay down on the couch with an ironing board over me, than some type of sheet over the ironing board with a pot of steaming hot water at the foot of the couch/tent. It worked great! You also had quite a clevor spontaneous side about you.Remember when Charlie Brown's Christmas special came on? All of us kids would be in front of the t.v. and the commercials would come on with Dolly Madison treats...will of course you took it a step further...only you would sneak out to the nearby store and bring back Dolly Madison treats for us....Love you forever Mommy!!!!.....

To my funny, unique, and fearless Mom,
Dear Mom, I can still hear your voice talking to me at night, I see your smile in my dreams, and I feel you sitting with me while I am alone.  When I see you, you are animated and so excited...you are telling me about an article that you just read or about a new recipe that you want to try.  In fact, I just called you, or maybe it was awhile ago.  I had to know your recipe for rice pudding.  You were so happy, I could feel the excitement in your voice. When I got off the phone I realized that I had not written anything down. I know now that it was not the recipe that I would remember, it was that "moment" that I would always have. You were my fearless Mom, I remember the time I was afraid to go to school because a boy was being mean to me. The very next day you were right there when the bell rang, waiting and ready to fight for me!  That's what you did for all of your kids!  Whether it was walking in the wind to Thrifty's drug store for our ear drops, or waiting until payday so you could buy our favorite "Fish and chips" or working extra shifts so Deanne and I could be the only kids on the block who owned our very own gymnastic mat... You were always putting us first. Even as I grew older, you had a way of making things better.  When I was in nursing school I thought I had every disease possible.  One night I was hiding under the covers and you climbed in bed with me and said "Debbie, I know you are going to make it through this illness, because you have already survived all of the other diseases" We laughed and laughed.  As you got older, things got harder for you.  I wanted so much to climb through the telephone lines and comfort you like you did me... I hope I did.  I know I am missing you when I find myself making cream tuna on toast for dinner or a big pot of chili beans, then I find myself dialing your number....You have made me who I am today. How can you write about a 2nd mom who helped you through your teenage years.  She gave love and kindness, a sense of purpose and treated me like a human when I wasn't sure what I was.  She also gave me a best friend and a second family.  I needed one.  Love you Treva and thank you for opening a world of books, smiles, nightie songs, and love.
