Victoria passed away on April 1, 2021 at the age of 98. She was born on March 6, 1923 to Amada & Ysidro Ramirez in Globe, AZ. While Victoria and some of her siblings were born in the United States they returned to Mexico during the Great Depression. They lived on a ranch and it was there she learned to cook, garden, and tend to livestock.
Later the family relocated to Tijuana, Mexico and she was sent to San Diego to find employment and to help her family by sending money to help with day-to-day expenses. She first worked at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, later at the Pickwick Hotel and much later in life she obtained her certificate in food service and worked at University Hospital in Hillcrest.
Victoria (aka Nana Vicky) loved gardening, cooking sewing and crocheting. She also loved laughing, singing, and listening to Antonio Aguilar. One of her favorite past times was to play jokes on people. This was an inherited trait that she learned from her family. She also enjoyed visiting the Casinos with her children and sister. She was a self-educated woman who developed numerous skills over her lifetime
Nana Vicky had the opportunity to live in various parts of the United States including Arizona where she was born, but later lived in several cities with her son Mario and grandson Christopher. She loved La Fayette Colorado where she lived before, she moved to Mexico, and lived most of her life in California, including Chula Vista, Victorville, San Diego with her son Mario and daughter Gloria and then in her later years she lived with her son Frank in Escondido.
She is survived by son Frank (Jeanette) daughter Gloria Moran, son Mario (Nancy) granddaughters Lesa Thode (Eric), Jennifer Escobedo, grandsons Frank Escobedo (Cynthia) Robert Moran (Kim), Atilano Moran (Valeria), Christopher Escobedo; great-grandchildren Megan Thode, Emilio Escobedo, Oliver Thode, Anderson Moran, Sonni Moran; her sisters Gloria Marquez and Linda Michel Ramirez with numerous nieces and nephews.
