She was ninety-seven years old. Lorene was the daughter of William Silas Bennett and Effie May Webb. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas on January 26, 1922. Lorene was a long-time resident of El Paso. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving the church in many different capacities including a mission that she served with husband Joseph Payne in Salt Lake City at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Family History Library. Genealogical research was a passion that Lorene shared with her second husband Carl before his death and with many church members and friends.
Lorene is preceded in death by her parents William and Effie, her brothers Roy Burton Bennett, William Lewis Bennett, Ira Jay Bennett, Charles Lee Bennett, a sister Elnora Jane Bennett, husbands, Charles Chauvet, Archie Carl Dunbar, and Joseph Devon Payne and grandson Carl Iaulualo.
Lorene is survived by her children Patricia Chauvet Sawtelle, Archie Dunbar, Carla Dunbar Laulualo, John Dunbar, Donald Dunbar, 17 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Lorene was also very close to the Payne family children and grandchildren.
A graveside dedication for Lorene will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, New Mexico 88063.
