On September 9, 2018, Our Lord and Savior dispatched His angels to come and escort our beautiful mom, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother Sabina Barron Dyer Eaton to her eternal home in heaven. Nina, as her friends would call her and referred to as “granny” by family members, was 96 years of age.
She was a nurse for 38 years and loved every minute of her career. She was a graduate of the first licensed Vocational Nursing School at Brewster County Memorial Hospital in Alpine, Texas on June 6, 1966. At one time in her career, she was licensed in 3 different states: Texas, New Mexico and Alabama. Her nursing years were in doctor’s offices; clinics, hospitals, a nursing home and she completed her career as a school nurse at school districts in the El Paso area.
Mom loved fishing and cherished the times that she would go fishing with her beloved husband Jim and some of her grandchildren. She would always catch the first fish, the biggest fish and the most fish. She enjoyed life and never passed up an opportunity to help those in need, especially children.
Mom/granny was preceded in death by her parents Raymundo Barron and Cleotilde Barron, husband Jack Dyer, son John Dyer, husband Jim Eaton, grandson James Dyer and daughter Linda Dyer Word. Survivors include son Jackie Dyer, grandsons John “Rocky” Dyer, Jeff Dyer and Joey Dyer. Granddaughters are Jennifer Dyer and Jessica Dyer. She has 7 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Granny is also survived by her sister, Elidia Castillo, son in law, Billy Word, daughter in law, Olga Nuñez-Dyer and daughter in law, Aurora Anaya-Dyer.
Pallbearers will be: James Dyer, Rocky Dyer, Jeffery Dyer, Joey Dyer, John Dyer III and Jackie Dyer.
We would like to thank all the doctors who not only helped Sabina in her career, but also the doctors and care givers who tended to her during her time of need.
