Rosanne Marie “Zan” Blesma passed away August 2, 2018 at her home. Rosanne was born on Feb. 13, 1940 in Holland, Michigan to Harvey and Geraldine Lockman, and was raised in Alden. She married Jack Blesma on February 24, 1962 in Alden, MI.
Rosanne was a police officer who served the Village of Elk Rapids for 31 years, retiring in 2000. She was very active in her community being a Cub Scout den mother, was a charter member of the Elk Rapids Ambulance, volunteered at the Senior Center, and was not only a police officer but interim Chief of Police and deputy clerk. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and camping.
She is survived by her husband Jack, one daughter; Jackie Sue Haase, two sons; Grant (Therese) and Bruce (Gerelyn), grandchildren; Tiia (Nate) Sinke, Mikayla Blesma and Trevor and Hunter Blesma, great-great grandchildren Harpper and Quinn Sinke, sisters; Sharon (Larry) Anderson, Janet (Larry) Rysztak, Judy Windish, and brother Clifford (Vicky) Lockman. She was preceded in death by both her parents, and first husband John Morris in 1957.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids, Dr. Jim Lawrence officiating. The family will greet visitors beginning at 2:00.
