So many memories of being with Mr & Mrs Furman! One of my faves was having tuna casserole with your family for dinner.  Attending church with y’all when he was pastoring, going camping, spending afternoons and weekends with y’all. He was always so kind and offered up awesome jokes for Lyd and me. Y’all always made me feel a part of your family. He will be greatly missed. Love you Mrs Furman! 

Where do I begin?  Pastor Craig and the entire Furman family played such a huge role in my life at a young age. He made church fun and my dad truly loved him and the Joyful Worship Center which made me love Pastor Craig even more! He was there for my dad when he needed him, as he was everyone. I’m truly sorry to hear of his passing but I know he is rejoicing in Heaven! I hope he and my dad are catching up and sharing some laughs. To the Furman family, I am praying for healing and peace during this time. He was a great man and will be greatly missed.

Another big moment I shared with dad was on our wedding day....(I’ve never been one to enjoy speaking or getting up in front of a group of people, and I was just so nervous.) John & I had chosen the Woodlands Inn for our wedding because we had worked together there...becoming friends then dating. I stepped down the front steps of the Inn, and dad held out his hand. I recall telling him how nervous I was, as he helped me into the horse drawn carriage that was going to drop us off at the wedding pavilion. So what did dad do? He made me laugh the entire time to ease my nerves. And when we rounded the corner he said, “Ok, now is the time we can get away if you want to...we can tell him to go that way!” Then he talked about everyone looking at him. How do I look? Oh, you think they’ll be looking at you!” 
 My dad was the most patient loving man. He never raised his voice at me. He disciplined us and taught us to live a life for Christ. The way he lived is the greatest testimony of Christ love.
 I recall spending the weekends when we lived on John’s Island going with our parents to the migrant camps for dad to preach Christ’s love to the migrants and their families. We’d set up the trampoline and the children would come, so then the parents would come. They’d listen to dad preach in Spanish. As a teenager, I went on a mission trip to Mexico where we helped build a church. I spoke in broken Spanish to the children of God’s love, just as I had grown up seeing my father do. Dad wasn’t able to go on that particular trip, and I recall someone from the church asking me to speak at the church since he couldn’t be there. I was introduced as Craig’s Furman’s daughter. And that is by far, the greatest honor. Dad, I’ll always be your little darling! I hope you’ll be the one to greet me first when I get there.


 My dad was a great father, the best father.
He taught by example, not so much by words. He was a man of few words but many jokes.
The way he lived his life, feared God, and loved his family were an example to many. 
My dad taught me to work hard and to play hard. Most mornings, he was up before the sun and off to work to provide for us. He always provided for us, and we never did without. He raised me to appreciate the simple things in life, like the outdoors, the ocean, a good book, a good cup of coffee, and of course dessert! 
  Dad was there for all the big moments in my life. Not to tell me what to do but to lovingly show me or just to be there to make me laugh.
He taught me to ride a bike. I recall his steady hand guiding me, and when I fell he’d get the bike ready again for me to get right back on it. He taught me to ride the waves at the ocean. He, along with his mom( my Mimi) taught me to swim. Dad loved the water. Some of my fondest memories are going to the beach with him or kayaking somewhere. This past summer, we kayaked together at a local park. We enjoyed the water together.
 Dad loved the outdoors. Growing up, we loved to go camping with dad. Rain or shine, we’d set up or pup tents and then roast hot dogs and marshmallows. 

Mr. Craig was such a sweet man, gentle in spirit with the kindest eyes. He was always making us girls laugh as teenagers and did the best impression of Walter Matthau from Grumpy Old Men! From the time Lydia and I were teens, Mr. Craig was my Walter Matthau. And he will always be that in my memories.
