

Lily was a lifetime member of the New Apostolic Church and remained active in the church until her passing. Her family was one of the founding families of the New Apostolic Church in the Kansas City, MO area, which was established in the 1920s. On many occasions during the Great Depression, her family provided Sunday meals for the congregation.
She grew up on several farms, the most notable was Wolferman’s Dairy Farm in Kansas City, MO, where her father managed the farm and dairy for about 18 years.
Lily’s education began at South City View School, which was a one room school at the time housing grades 1 to 8. She walked to and from school and occasionally rode a horse named Tony. She graduated from Westport High School of Kansas City, MO in 1949 and attended a Junior College near the high school for 1 year.
After graduation, Lily met her future husband, George Lumpp, on a blind date that a friend convinced her to go on. They married on June 21, 1953, and soon had two daughters, Cindy and Diane. George and Lily were married for nearly 50 years, until his passing in March of 2003.
During her life, she primarily worked in billing in the Kansas City, MO area. Noteworthy employment includes:
• First job, working at Woolworths at the makeup counter.
• The IRS in Quality Control/billing
• Kansas City Royals Stadium in their billing dept
Lily will be remembered as a pleasant lady who was kind to all. She was even tempered and a joy to be around until the end of her life. She was dedicated to God and family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included travel and cooking. After their retirements, Lily and George traveled around the world, including trips to Europe to visit family and they also took several cruises. Throughout her life she also took many cooking classes. Lily will be fondly remembered for hosting family gatherings, especially after church Sunday dinners with pot roast and potatoes.
Preceding her in death are her parents, David and Frieda Schmid, husband, George R. Lumpp, daughter, Diane Boatwright, and all her siblings, Louise Schmid, Juanita (Pat)Tautphaeus, William Schmid, Mary Schmid, and Barbara Schmid.
She is survived by daughter, Cindy Mahr, grandchildren, Chris Apple, Nicole Hampton, Jessica Shipman, and Lisa Masaitis, and great-grandchildren, Joshua Hampton, Zachary Hampton, Alana Hampton, Elliott Shipman, Xander Masaitis, and Isabella Apple.
Her memorial service will be held at the New Apostolic Church, 1910 Putty Hill Avenue, Baltimore MD, on February 25th at 12:30 p.m. with fellowship to follow.
