Cynthia May Cook

Cynthia (Cindy) L May Cook, age 67 of Bradenton died on March 7, 2022 after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. She was born on August 22, 1954, in Reading, Pennsylvania to Larry and Shirley May. She is survived by her husband Johnnie Cook, father Larry K. May and children Shaun (Stanley McGinnis) Miller of Lee, IL, Brandon (Jennifer) Miller of Bowling Green, KY and Dustin Miller of Waterman, IL. She is also survived by her siblings Kay (Randy Searight) May of New Bremen, OH and Timothy (Vicki) May of New Bremen, OH and 6 grandchildren Joseph Miller, Destiny McGinnis, Sierra Miller, Sedona Miller, Jade Miller and Jordan Miller. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley L. Seaman May and brother, Keith R. May. Cindy was a 1972 graduate of Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Ohio. Cindy graduated from the Miami Valley School of Nursing in Dayton, Ohio in 1975. She was a born nurse caring for others her entire life. Cindy worked in the healthcare field her entire career (46 years) where she held various positions as a nurse, and later in the office staff of area hospitals and clinics, most recently a Quality Specialist at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. Cindy also loved serving her church and doing community outreach. She was an active member of the Palmetto Presbyterian Church where she served as a Ruling Elder and sang in the choir. Through her church, Cindy helped to start a program that raised money to purchase shoes and clothing for children in her community. Because of her efforts, twenty-six pairs of shoes recently found “some feet” in need. Her other love was family, especially her grandchildren. Separated by many miles she visited them as often as possible. Cindy cherished spending with her family. She loved nothing more than being able to spend time with each member making new memories. Cindy often enjoyed vacations with her kids, grandkids and extended family in Lake Geneva, WI. She also enjoyed traveling with her parents on several European trips. Cindy was also a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed watching Buckeye football games. A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 11am at Palmetto Presbyterian Church, Palmetto, Florida. A reception and fellowship with friends and family will follow. There will also be a Memorial service held at St. Paul’s Country Church in Rockford, Ohio on April 2 at 12:00 noon. She will be inurned near her mother and brother at St. Michael’s Union Cemetery in Berks County, Pennsylvania at a later date.
