Mary Frances Ashlin, 80, of Palmetto, passed away peacefully in her home, with her daughters by her side, on August 26, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel “Dan” Ashlin; and her first Grandson, Gabriel Lajko.
Born November 18, 1932, in Washington DC, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Russell and Lucy Mae Thompson and the youngest of 7 children.
She was retired as a successful self-employed insurance agent in Michigan. She and her husband moved to the Palmetto area in 2000. She was a standing member of St. Frances of Cabrini Catholic Parrish, and loved to bowl, play cards, and hit the “slots”.
Survivors include one son, James Warrick, of Redford, MI; two daughters, Deborah Kelm (Kim), also of Redford, MI, and Renae Nowak (Jim), of Palmetto; two sisters, Marie Smith and Catherine Russell, both from VA, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, amongst many relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 3-7:00 pm at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave. East, Ellenton, FL 34222.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, August 30, 2013, at the funeral home by Father David Baehr. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
