Esther D. Baggett, 97, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Golden LivingCenter Woodlands. She was born August 15, 1913, in Kentucky, and spent a good portion of her life living in Tennessee.
She retired from Bucyrus-Erie in 1978 after 33 years as a welder. During WWII she welded at the Evansville Shipyard. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting and ceramics. She loved going to Ellis Park to watch horse racing.
Esther is survived by her daughters, Laverne Moore (Jack), Dorothy Wilkinson (Walter) and Lucy M. Lohmann; grandchildren, Nancy Hopper (Bud), Dennis Moore, Steve Moore (Jenny), Max Wilkinson, Amy Carey (Joel), Debbie Lohmann (Mike), Jennifer Nisley (Larry) and George Lohmann (Cindy); 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard Duff.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aseracare Hospice, Amedisys Home Health and especially Around The Clock Care, who cared for Esther for the past five years.
Private family services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kevin McKinney, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. No visitation will be held.
