Nettie Mae Hawkins, 74, of Evansville went to see our Lord Jesus on Wednesday, March 20, 2018 at her home in Evansville. Nettie “Shortie” was born September 26, 1943 to the late Elscia and Thomas Krietemeyer.
Nettie worked at SRG Global for over 30 years. She met Paul at Farmer’s Daughter where they worked together, fell in love, and then they eloped. Later in marriage, they enjoyed riding their motorcycle together. She was a hard worker and energetic. She loved the Lord, studied the Bible, and was a member of Bible Center Cathedral where in her early years, she enjoyed singing in the choir. Nettie enjoyed crafts, stained glass, and watching funny movies. She loved her dogs, Fluffy and Magic. Nettie was very kind to everyone she knew and her pleasant disposition was noticed by all. She will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Charles Paul Hawkins; and her parents.
Nettie loved her family and is survived by her only daughter, Paula Renee Backer (Patrick); sisters, Marian Krietemeyer, Teena McGinnis; brother, Lance Krietemeyer (Kelly); grandchildren, Jason McCurdy, Laura McCurdy; step-grandson, Daniel Backer; step-great granddaughter, Hazel Grace; cousins; nieces; nephews; Paul Hawkins’ family; and family and friends who loved her.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, officiated by Pastor Rick Van Hoose, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service on Saturday, March 24.
