October 17, 1923 - August 9, 2018 Margaret Mary Barhanovich, age 94, passed away on August 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home - her residence for more than 60 years. Margaret was born on October 17, 1923 to Croatian immigrant parents, Anton and Jerka Separovich, at Providence Hospital. Margaret, a life-long resident of Everett, WA, was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; younger brother, Anthony; her parents and many dear friends. Margaret is survived by her three children: Mary (Ray) Sievers, John (Diana) Barhanovich, Jerry (Karen) Barhanovich; nine grandchildren, Carrie (Paul) McClinton, Niko (Mary) Sievers, Nicole (John) Marshall, Brian (Jaylene) Barhanovich, Amelia Barhanovich, Ben (Andrea) Barhanovich, Anna (Evan) Chalker, Jody Barhanovich and David Barhanovich; and three great grandchildren Anderson, Charlie and Henry. Margaret was raised in Everett in a strong Croatian fishing community. She embraced all aspects of the vibrant lifestyle that surrounded her. Dancing, singing, cooking, sharing meals together, laughing and celebrating life to the fullest were moments she held dearest. Even in her final days, Margaret's dancing feet were tapping to her favorite songs. Margaret cherished her faith in God and lived her life treating everyone with respect and kindness. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish family since her baptism, having served in the Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Society and Saint Rita's Guild. After graduating from Everett High School in 1941, she worked at Community Chest (now United Way of Snohomish County) and the Everett Shipyard before marrying Nick Barhanovich at Immaculate Conception Church in 1950. Margaret devoted her life to her family and when not involved in their activities, could be found sharing a cup of coffee and a sweet treat with dear friends around her kitchen table. Margaret's zest and enthusiasm for life were contagious; whether greeting a friend at QFC, walking briskly through north Everett, or engaging playfully with her grandchildren, her youthful vitality shone through. Asking her to relax? The word wasn't in her vocabulary! Her last few years were shared by an amazing group of devoted companions who became loving caregivers. The family extends our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the compassionate team of Kris, Rebecca, Celma, Matilde, Tije and Cathie for their exceptional care, and Kristen, who helped us navigate these final few months as a member of our family. She will be greatly missed, as she was a truly wonderful wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother and friend to those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. Remembrances may be made to Immaculate Conception Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and to Compass Health. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church. Details will be provided at a later time.
