He was born in Abji, India, to Nihalchand and Ganga Lalchandani in 1925. He went to college in Hyderabad, India, and then graduated from the Delhi School of Social Work. He married Kaushalya Vanjani in 1946. He moved to the US in 1970, where he worked as a psychiatric social worker in Brooklyn, NY.
After his retirement in 1990, he committed his life to service and charitable activities worldwide. He helped provide free cataract surgeries for the poor, education to Indian children, and emergency relief to earthquake victims in India. He was a founder of the Satya Narayan Mandir in Queens, NY. He eventually moved to Sacramento, CA, in 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kaushalya.
He is survived by Ram and Sita Lalchandani, and his grandchildren Mira, Rupa, and Gopal.
