BASTIN, Bobby J. age 88, of Fairborn, passed away April 19, 2018. He was born on July 2nd 1929 in Whickerville, Kentucky to the late Terry and Ruby Lawson Bastin. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two siblings Terry Bastin and Mabel Scott. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration where he worked for many years as a supervisory Air Traffic Controller. He was a long-time member of the Fairborn Rotary Club, held various leadership positions in his church and was a past president of the Fairborn Park Hills Music Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors and served as President of the Fairborn Parks Foundation.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Doris Frazier Bastin, his brother Don Bastin, his daughters Deborah Snavely (Daniel) and Terri Nixon (Michael). He also leaves six granddaughters Katie, Ashley, Michaela, Marrisa, Kelsey and Laura as well as seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday April 28th at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home 119 E. Main St. Fairborn. A service of remembrance will follow at 4 pm, the Reverend Karen Cassedy presiding.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul of Greater Dayton or Hospice of the Miami Valley in Bob’s memory.
