Catherine D. (Fennel) San Juan, 88, of Fairhaven, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Pedro P. San Juan with whom she shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of the late Frank C. and Nettie (Farmer) Fennel, she had resided in Fairhaven since 1972.

Mrs. San Juan enjoyed walking on the beach collecting shells, playing cards, reading and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she adored.

Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter, Donna Kay Smoot of W. Virginia; her sister, Iantha Miller of Georgia; her grandchildren, Kimberly Chapman of W. Virginia, Tara Wotton and her husband Jaime of Fairhaven, Don V. San Juan and his wife Meaghan of Foxboro, Nicole San Juan of Fairhaven and Michael San Juan of New Bedford; her great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kayleigh, Zackary, Kaelyn, Keira and Emily; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Don Pedro San Juan and Rivera “Vera” San Juan and sister of the late Patricia Wilson and Sam Fennel.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel at the loss of my friend of 54 years.Over the years we experienced laughs and tears.We watched our children grow and were thrilled with the arrival of grand-babies.May you rest in eternal peace my friend.
