Elaine J. Bettencourt
April 13, 1946 – May 30, 2019
Elaine J. (Paulino) Bettencourt, age 73 of Brockton, New Bedford, and Fairhaven, MA, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Deolinda (Cardoso) Paulino and the late Manuel Paulino.
Born in Fairhaven, MA, she was a lifelong area resident until recently. She was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and was employed as a secretary prior to her marriage to David R. Bettencourt. Elaine deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was smart, funny, kind, generous, and her laugh was infectious and you couldn't help but join in. She was faithful and prayed for everyone who entered her world. Elaine had been a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven, St. Anne’s Church in New Bedford, and St. Lawrence Martyr Church in New Bedford. She loved God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, Mary, and the Saints. Everyone she loved was her "angel", and the smallest act of kindness would inspire her to ask for God's blessing in your life.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Joyce A. Bettencourt and her husband Michael Ferrier of Rehoboth, MA and Barbara R. Bettencourt of Fall River, MA; a sister, Lisa Dion and her husband Bryan of New Bedford, MA; her grandchildren, James Silva, Giovanni Palingo, Nicholas Palingo, Jadenn Bettencourt-Lewis and Czar Bettencourt-Lewis; her great-grandchild Kian Palingo, and many nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of the late David R. Bettencourt. She was the grandmother of the late Isaiah Bettencourt and Brendon Bettencourt, and sister of the late Lydia Thibault, Nancy Costa, and Linda Richard.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 10:30 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Relatives and friends are invited.
