Juan Trinidad Johnson, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 85. He was born on May 1, 1935 to Juan Trinidad Johnson, Sr. and Julia Pena Johnson in Premont, Texas. Juan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a Military Police Officer stationed in Japan. He worked for many years with Hygeia Dairy in the Delivery Department and then later worked as a Maintenance Man for the Premont Nursing Home until he retired. He married the love of his life Lydia Martinez Johnson and together they raised five children. Juan was also a Premont City Council Member for a few years.
Juan had a love for animals, especially horses and roosters. He also loved attending horse races during his younger years and even owned his own racehorse. He loved sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Dodgers Fan. He also coached little league baseball and women’s softball for many years. He greatly adored dancing with his wife.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents; his son, Juan Trinidad Johnson, III; sisters, Marta Johnson, Albesa Johnson and Maria Elva Johnson and his brothers, Abelardo “Lalo” Johnson, Donato Johnson and Enemencio Johnson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 61 years, Lydia M. Johnson of Premont; two sons, Raul “PeeWee” (Sandra) Rene Johnson and Roel Mario Johnson both of Premont; two daughters, Maria Denise (Carlos) Martinez of Falfurrias, Texas and Lydia Ann Johnson of Premont; brothers, Tomas (Estela) Rene Johnson of Falfurrias and Gilberto (Gloria) Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Elma Johnson of San Antonio and Maria Antonia (JM) Lozano of Premont; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Raul Rene “PJ” Johnson, Jr., Stephen Taylor Johnson, Joshua Lenn Martin, Dessie Ann Garza, Zachary Ty Martin, Gavin Gray Martinez, Mia LyAnn Johnson and Madison Rae Johnson.
Due to the current ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, services are for family only. Rosary will be prayed at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont with viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. Public Graveside Service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Premont Cemetery.
