Gertrude A. Ferreira

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late William and Anita (Castanguay) Foley, she spent her youth in Fall River and lived in Tiverton for many years before returning back to the city in 2005.

Mrs. Ferreira worked as a Seamstress in the garment industry for many years and as a School Bus Monitor for the Cozy Bus Company.

A communicant of St. Mary’s Cathedral, she was also a communicant of Holy Ghost Church while living in Tiverton. She loved spending time with her family and was truly a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Tiverton Grange and enjoyed going to yard sales.

She is survived by seven children, Gertrude Moniz of North Port, FL, Edward Ferreira and his wife Rose of Tiverton, Beverly Caine and her husband Edward of Fall River, Gayle Hebert and her husband David of Fall River, JoAnn Adams and her husband David of FL, Bruce Ferreira of Fall River, Georgette Cousineau and her husband Rodney of Fuquay Varina, NC, twenty grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joseph, George and Ronald Ferreira and sister of the late Dorothy Foley and Teresa Labbe.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Catholic Memorial Home for their kindness and compassionate care given to Gertrude over the years.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St., Fall River. Visiting hours prior to her Funeral Mass from 9:00 to 10:00AM in the Funeral Home. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Catholic Memorial Home Activities Fund, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
