Lillian E. Toulan

Lillian Elizabeth (McDermott) Toulan, age 103, of Somerset of formerly Portsmouth, RI, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. She was the wife of the late John W. Toulan, Jr.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Shea) McDermott.

A graduate of B.M.C Durfee High School, Class of 1932, she was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross during WWII and later, also with the Red Cross, in Boston and Cleveland, OH. She was a volunteer at the Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood, OH until she retired and moved to Portsmouth, RI where she belonged to the Portsmouth AARP, Portsmouth Senior Center, Newport County Women’s Club and Portsmouth Gardening Club.

She is survived by: one daughter, Mary Louise Toulan Dunn and her husband Robert of Somerset; daughter-in-law, Deborah Toulan; five grandchildren, Thomas Cleary, Patrick Cleary, Bridget Cleary, Christopher Toulan and Jamieson Toulan; six great grandchildren, Thomas Cleary, Taylor Cleary, Greyson Cleary, Callie Duclos, John W. Duclos V, Kennedy Duclos and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late John W. Toulan III; grandmother of the late John W. Toulan IV and sister of the late Helen Maloney, Robert, John and Russell McDermott.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 9:00 am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Visiting hours respectfully omitted.
