Mary V. Powers

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late William F. and Mary A. (Acton) Bennett, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River and a graduate of the former Sacred Heart’s Academy. For many years she was employed by the Fall River School Dept. in the office at the James M. Aldrich School. She went on to become a patient Information clerk at the former Truesdale Hospital, and retired from Charlton Memorial Hospital as a supervisor in Hospital Communications.

The Powers family, express their sincere gratitude for the manner in which their mother was cared for by the staff at Somerset Ridge.

Surviving: three sons: Thomas W. Powers Jr. and his wife Nancy of Dover, NH, William F. Powers and his wife Gale and Stephen J. Powers and his wife Suzanne both of Fall River, seven grandchildren: Cara Vivian, Jeffrey, Daniel, Maggie, Graham and Jameson Powers and Audrey Rouleau-Smith, four great grandchildren: Naomi, Zacharia and Delilah Vivian and Gabriel Smith. She was also sister of the late Joan M. Mellor.

Her funeral will take place on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in Holy Rosary Church ,120 Beattie St., Fall River. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4PM-7PM.
