Joseph Eten Dotterweich

August 19, 1978June 18, 2018

With sadness, the family of Joseph Eten Dotterweich announces his passing, after a long battle with cancer, on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the age of 39. After graduating from Fayetteville High School, Joe embraced opportunities for many diverse and unique life experiences. During his too short time on earth, Joe graduated from culinary school, worked at a turkey farm, a car dealership and a vineyard, spent time as a river guide on the New River, and helped open the exclusive Primland Resort in Virginia. He approached his fight with cancer in the same way he approached life – with hope and humor. Joe is survived by two beautiful children, Olivia and Carter, his parents, Milt and Ann, his siblings Rob, Jennifer, Andy and Tonya, his grandmother, Nancy Straub, his Uncle and Aunt, Bill and Debbie Straub, Jr., his cousin Rebekah Straub and three nephews who adored him, Max, Logan and Turner. He is also survived by a large and diverse community of friends and family, all of whom will remember his kindness, generosity and love. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Fayetteville Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a church service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society or to the educational fund for Joe’s children c/o Milt Dotterweich. My prayers are with the family and friends. Joe was a kind, loving guy, who loved life. He was a great friend to us all, and will be sadly missed. I wish I could've made it down more to see him and everyone in the Ville. I just know he loved those kids, and he loved life. he's no longer in pain, and is in good hands, so with many tears, and much sadness I have say Later bro, and I'll see you later, I love you brother!
