Elaine June Ochwat (formerly of Garrettsville, OH) passed away peacefully at her home in Palm Coast, FL. on August 11, 2018. She was born on August 2, 1925 in Cleveland, OH to the late Russell and Mary Halaburda (Watral). She earned her Master’s degree in Education from Kent State University and worked for over 25 years at Garfield Elementary School teaching first and second grade. Elaine also worked in the family business at Al’s High Tech Inc. in Bedford, OH. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Garrettsville where she sang in the choir, Past President of Twentieth Century Women’s Club of Garrettsville and United Methodist Women’s Club, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Garrettsville Garden Club. Her passions included gardening, Cleveland Indians baseball, Pittsburg Steelers football and animals, her golden retriever Sandy preceded her passing. Her love for the beach brought her to Palm Coast, FL. 7 years ago where she made numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Joseph Ochwat in 2001 and her sister Dorthy May Smith. Survivors include her children, Dr. Lynn (Scott) Meffen, Dale Ochwat; grandchildren, Lauren, Stacie, Kellie, Scott II, Albert, Christine, Dale Jr. and Robert; 7 great-grandchildren; Donations in her memory can be made to the National River Clean UP, 111 14th Street NW Suite#1400 Washington, DC 20005, www.americanrivers.org.
