Joan Helen Johnan

Joan Helen Johnan 84, of Flagler Beach, FL. passed away at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House on July 8, 2018. She was born on March 23, 1934 in Beacon, New York to the late John O’Donnell and Anna Schnetzler. She worked as a Dental Assistant for many years. In 2001 she and her husband moved to the Flagler Beach area from Hyde Park, NY. Her memberships included Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church and a ladies quilting club. Joan enjoyed cooking and quilting but her greatest love was being with her family especially her many beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Anthony Johnan in 2017 and her 4 sisters, Margaret, Alice, Mary and Anna Mae. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ralph; sons, Michael (Cathy) Johnan of Shokan, NY., Patrick Johnan of Palm Coast; daughters, Kathleen (Dennis) Flynn of Wappingers Falls, NY., Linda (Frederick) Bernstein of Fishkill, NY., Jill (Mario “Rick”) Pisano of Woodstock, GA; brother, John O’Donnell of FishKill, NY; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Donations in her memory may be made to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 20, 11am at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church. Interment of her cremains will follow the funeral mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach. Friends may visit on Thursday, July 19, from 2:00-5:00PM at the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home. Additional funeral services will be held in New York at a later date. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
