She was born August 19, 1927 in Senath, Missouri, a daughter of Thomas and Millie Stone Howard.
She grew up in Missouri picking cotton until the age of 19. She had married Gavin Regionald Hicks then moved to St. Louis. Reggie joined the Air Force, and they moved to Seattle, then Indianapolis. Vermal was a housewife and a mom. She enjoyed camping, fishing, country music and dancing. Her husband Reggie died in 1981. She got remarried to Archie Cameron of Greenfield, Indiana., who retired from the Chrysler Corporation. They purchased a home in Naples, Florida, and became snowbirds. They were snowbirds for 18 years, then moved back to Greenfield. While living in Naples, they had a niece that lived close to them, Judy Hamilton. Vermal enjoyed spending the holidays outside of Atlanta, Georgia with her sister, Syble Surber, and her nephew Rick and niece Janice.
Vermal is survived by her daughter Gail (Jeff) Davis of Flagler Beach, and a granddaughter, Ciara Alderson of Brownsburg, IN.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, LT and Carmel and her sister Syble.
Family and friends will be received August 23, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, Arkansas.
