Dominga was born to Venero Melendez and Estanisla Sanchez on October 7, 1939, in Tamboril, Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. She was the sixth child of nine children. She became a hair stylist at a very young age and although worked in other areas through out her adulthood, her passion was doing hair until she retired. She moved to New York City around 1967 and then moved back to Dominican Republic in 1981, until she moved to Florida in 2002.
Dominga was an amazing woman and a caring mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with family and friends, and listening to music. Her family and friends will remember her as a strong, loving, giving, strong-willed, hard working, passionate, responsible, honest, respected, humanitarian and leader, who lived to help her family and community.
A funeral is scheduled in Florida for Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. In honor of her final wishes, a second funeral and burial will be announced at a later date and is to be held in Dominican Republic.
The family would like to thank everyone for the kind messages, texts, calls, posts and calls.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Radio Paz and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, organizations that Dominga held near to her heart.
