Lana Neumeier, 56, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed on from this life on October 4th surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Cecil Herbert and Lena Katherine Dennington. She was a believer in Christ. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and teacher. Her selfless spirit, caring heart, and cheerful personality enriched the lives of all who came in contact with her.

She was an educator for 33 years. She was passionate about her work and loved her students dearly. She went above and beyond on a regular basis for her students. She would buy supplies, clothes, and toys for any student in need. Lana also mentored dozens of new educators during her time at Tilles Elementary.

She was an amazing example of love to everyone around her, especially her family. Her ability to outwardly express her love was one of her most profound gifts. She always had a hug and a kiss ready, and expected one of each in return. She had a true servant heart, making sure others needs were met before her own. She was preceded in death by her brother Wade Dennington.

Lana is survived by her parents, Cecil Herbert and Lena Katherine Dennington, her husband Edward Henry Neumeier, her siblings, Carla (Keith) Kirk, Stephanie (Rick) Coke, Denny (Pam) Dennington, her sons, Eric (Netra), Carl (Allison), and Evan (Rachel) Neumeier, her grandchildren, Neil and Wade Neumeier, and nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

The family will greet friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm Saturday, October 9, 2021 at West Ark Church of Christ, followed by the celebration of Lana’s life at 12:00. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Lana made this world a better place. I will never forget the times we shared together, her kindness, her stories, but most of all, her love for children. My heart aches for all of you, but I know God has her really close to Him where she is immensely happy. God bless.

I taught at Tilles when Lana was there. She was so inspiring and fun to work with. She was always caring and compassionate with her students.
I’ll never forget the comfort she gave me when my father died.
I’ll always remember her with affection and gratitude.

Lana was a gift to the world. She reached out to help students that were struggling when other teachers failed to notice. She was such a beautiful soul and she will be greatly missed. I was a student from her class back in the 1990's. Lana reached out to my mother, helped her when we needed it most, helped us find resources that we were struggling to find, to help with mine and my two younger sisters education, and get clothing, and supplies for the class year up until we all entered middle school. My regards and condolences to Mrs. Neumeiers' family. I cannot imagine how hard this loss must be for you all, but please know she lives on in our memories, and in our deeds. Most sincerely, Melisa M. Anderson.
