Bonita "Bonnie" Jean (Martin) Bultemeier, 93, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Born on July 7, 1927 she was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Martin. She was married to Norman Bultemeier in 1946, one year after graduating from Arcola High School. They had three children, Ronald "Ron," Nancy, and Dave. She was an active member of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Most people knew her as Bonnie, Grandma Bonnie, or Gram. God gifted Bonnie in many ways which included, but not limited to expert bowler, sewing-anything from doll clothes to quilts, crocheting, oil-painting, crafting, tending to flowers, canning/freezing/cider making, alter guild, fishing, preparing wild game, mushroom hunting, shuffleboard, and a myriad of card games, most especially bid Euchre. Every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild has examples of her handy work each crafted with love. After a long day of school grandma could be counted on for playing kings on a corner, a homemade sugar cookie, and a bowl of ice cream. She was not only beloved by her family but by numerous children after chaperoning school trips and being a band booster-- she was frequently referred to as "the cool grandma." She remained young at heart, body, and mind by her vast travels across the United States, working sale day at Indiana Auto Auction, relaxing/fishing at "the Lake," watching lots of baseball (Go Cubbies), wintering in Florida, square dancing, willingness to try new things (ziplining when 85), and never one to turn down a shot or a glass of homemade wine. Last year she was still a menace on the shuffleboard courts in Florida. Her family and her circle of friends will miss her competitive Euchre playing and always turning a holiday from "just a few snacks" to a multi course meal. Bonnie's work here is done and what an outstanding impact she has made on those fortunate to have gotten to know her. She will be missed and remembered fondly but with thanksgiving that the next chapter (it is a long one) has begun. No more will she call Fort Wayne her home, her new residence is in the perfection of Heaven.
Bonnie is survived by her three children and their spouses, Ron (Janet) Bultemeier, Nancy (Steve) Schneider, and Dave Bultemeier; her grandchildren, Natalie Bultemeier, Kelly (Rick) Kreischer, Adam Bultemeier, Jason (Gena) Schneider, Paula (Tony) Rekewag, Megan (Richie) Scherer; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Al Martin; and sister, Shirley Click. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bultemeier.
Funeral service will be on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00 am at D.O. McComb and Son's Covington Knolls Funeral Home (8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804) with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow the service to Greenlawn Memorial Park.
