Cheryl Kaye (Trotter) Mayes, 73, went to her Heavenly home on, December 16, 2019, in the afternoon. Her husband of 55 years, Harry and her oldest grandson, Sean and his wife Ana were with her at the time of her passing. There will be a memorial service held at 10:00 AM on, December 28, 2019, at Castleberry Baptist Church. The location is: 1250 N. Jim Wright Freeway, White Settlement.
Cheryl was born on, October 12, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Hoy and Elnita Trotter and lived her childhood and teen years in Reno and Azle, Texas. She graduated from Azle High School in 1964.
Cheryl’s life of serving others began as she worked on the nursing staff at Northwest Hospital in Fort Worth. Later, after her conversion to Christianity, she served in many capacities. As a minister’s wife and as a minister in her own right.
Cheryl’s life exemplified the warrior spirit like few ever have. Whether it was fighting for the spiritual well-being of the young in our children’s work or the older in our adult’s ministry, our chaplain’s work or her health battles, she took on challenges with both strength and grace. Cancer is a very devastating diagnosis, one that Cheryl heard three times. She stayed the course, depending on Christ for both guidance and spirit.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her only brother, Danny.
She is survived by her husband, Harry, and sons Monty and DeAnna, Marty and Jinger, grandsons, Sean and Ana, Brady and Kierstin, and Luke, granddaughter, Makaylin and Nick, great grandchildren Ryan Jacob and Mariyah Jayce.
