Mary G. Vozar
November 25, 1930 – January 5, 2021
Bedford, Texas — Mary Vozar passed away January 5, 2021 at the age of 90.
Mary was born in Woodbridge, New Jersey on November 25, 1930 to John and Mary (Barna) Govelitz and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1948. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the New Jersey State Teachers College. A beloved kindergarten teacher for more than 25 years in Edison, New Jersey she worked tirelessly with generation after generation of kids and parents to ensure that their first year of school was a positive experience. Each night she would be found with her bed covered with papers as she plotted out her lesson plans for the following day.
She married Stephen Vozar, who would become her life-long partner, in 1951. They raised their family in Edison, New Jersey and retired in 1985. After moving to Keller, Texas in 1987, they spent a good deal of time traveling around the world and doting on their grandchildren.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, three brothers John, Robert and George and one sister Eleanor (Gallagher).
She is survived by a sister, Veronica Nacchio of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, her two sons Mark of Bedford, Texas and David of Upper Montclair, New Jersey. Mary enjoyed her extended family which includes Mark’s wife Amy, David’s wife Vanessa and four grandchildren, Laura Jensen, Sarah Carroll, Ariane Vozar and Leo Vozar.
It seems fitting that she will be inurned alongside her husband of 68 years, who passed away at 94 this past summer. The inurnment will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
