I always LOVED Uncle Mike's cooking. Especially when he cooked Greek dishes. I also loved to hear him play Greek music while Michael danced some of the traditional dances Uncle Mike taught him. Most of All I Loved how much he loved all of us.

I never saw Uncle Mike much because we lived so far apart. At reunions he was always happy & smiling...glad to see all of us. I remember he was a hard worker & great provider for his family. He loved his family so much! He will be missed by many!

God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you, And whispered, "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Uncle Mike, you are not really gone since you are woven into the very fabric of who I am today. People saw me “helping you” after your stroke, but don’t realize how much you were “helping me” find myself after my brain injury. You taught me how to laugh again, be silly singing to the radio and appreciate scenic drives. Your words may have been few, but your loving heart spoke kindness to all. It was an honor and a joy to spend time with you and Aunt Jan. Sha-na-na-na Uncle Mike, I miss you.

I will always remember Mike for his sweet and gentle disposition.
Mike had a way of greeting you with smile that seem to say more than mere words could express. Mike's smile seem to not only say hello or how are you. To me that smile expressed genuine happiness at seeing you. I will remember him riding his scooter and sitting outside in the sunshine, just enjoying the wonders of the nature; the trees, birds and squirrels etc. I will truly miss him for his kind d gentle spirit. R.I.P Mike.

Dear Aunt Jan, Cristina and Michael,

Our hearts are saddened for the loss of Uncle Mike. Uncle Mike was always such a joyful, happy and sweet soul to everyone he met. We loved being closer to you all now that we are in Texas and spending time with Uncle Mike at family gatherings. My boys always loved Uncle Mike and he was always the first one to give them big hugs, laugh at them and play toys! He had a big heart and we will miss him terribly.

Uncle Mike was always so kind to my family and will be terribly missed. Uncle Mike please say hello to my grandpa and I can only imagine the amazing meals and conversations you all are having in heaven. Until we meet again!

It has been my privilege and blessing to share in the life of Jan and Mike . I always felt so loved when in their presence .

Mike was a sweet gentle giant, who without many words, spread love and joy in our community.

I will miss spending time with him and Jan eating , laughing, singing, talking And watching tv into the night . I will miss looking out my door and seeing him riding in the parking lot or passing him in the hallway sharing his big smile and "hi❣"

We had our own way of communicating, which always began and ended with Mike's big smile or just the right expression on his face.

My prayer is that the God of peace, love and joy will fulfill his word to be near Jan, Christina , Michael and all the rest of Mike's family and friends during this intermission from his presence And reunite them in the future ❣😘🙏❤️💓

First time I saw Mike he was on his scooter setting out side watching the traffic go be on Granbury. I had just parked my car and he looked at me and gave me a big smile, and I spoke. I later learned he was a stroke survivor & didn’t talk, I made up my mind to become his friend & when he was outside I started talking to him. He would listen and smile the biggest smile and try to respond to me in his humble way. He was a big man but a gentle man with a big heart & a big smile and never for getting to say thank you when he would return a dish to you or tell you goood. He loved having our Sassy come and play at their house for a couple of hours . She would put her head on his good knee and he loved petting her. She loved him. I know he was loved by many and will truly be missed. May you Rest In Peace , BARBARA

Jan, Cristina and Michael,
My deepest condolences go out to you. I have so many fun and funny memories of Mike. I loved my summers visiting y’all in California. My mom still makes his baklava recipe. My favorite is him always telling our old dog Sugar to “GET DOWN!” I know the entire Schleicher family is thinking of you.
