Earlene Roberts Michaliga entered into God’s kingdom on Thursday, 15 March 2018. She was a resident of Personal Care at the Village of Laurel Run Retirement Facility, Fayetteville, PA. Earlene was born in Spotsylvania, VA, and except for the last 5 years, resided there. Born on 28 July 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Carl Roberts (former sheriff of Spotsylvania County) and the late Floyd Gustavia Roberts. In 1942, she married Michael Martin Michaliga of Caroline, Va. They had two sons. Earlene was employed by Giant Food in Fredericksburg, VA where she worked for twenty years. Earlene was active throughout her life in the Spotsylvania County Home Demonstration Club. She was an avid painter, seamstress, upholsterer, gardener and crafts-person. Earlene was predeceased (1992) by her husband; her sisters, Catherine Nanninga of Aurora, CO and Mary Virginia Bookhamer of Valley Forge, PA, and a brother, Lawrence Carl Roberts, Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA. Mrs. Michaliga is survived by her two sons and their wives: Michael Gary and Catherine Michaliga of Orrtanna, PA and Dennis Lawrence and Betty Michaliga of Leland, NC. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, their spouses’ and 12 great grand children along with many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
The family will hold a visitation at Mullins &Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Monday, March 26th.
Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 8200 Robert E. Lee Dr, Spotsylvania, VA 22551 with, Father Paul M. Eversole, Celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass.
Interment will occur on 27 March 2018, in the mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 10 am.
