Ernestina "Tina" Reyes Pichardo

Ernestina Reyes Pichardo, affectionately known to some as Tina, was born on July 21, 1947 in Las Liebres, Jalisco, Mexico to Prudencio and Juanita Pichardo. She was the oldest of 5 children. She had humble beginnings but soon learned the ethics of hard work and the value of an earned dollar. She completed 8th grade in Mexico and was brought to the United States where her parents had fulfilled bigger dreams of living in America. They made their home in Fresno, California where they would raise their five children. Tina’s siblings are Abelino, Dora, Sylvia, and Anna.

Tina entered the workforce when she was of age. She worked for several companies but spent the last 32 years at Paper Converters. She loved her job and genuinely appreciated her managers; however, her coworkers made the work day go by even quicker. She also taught herself to sew, became a self-taught hair stylist, and provided therapeutic massages to friends and family. She also was a fantastic cook. Many can attest to that!

One of her greatest personal accomplishments was becoming a US Citizen which she was so proud of. Her favorite hobbies were going to the casino, attending family parties and reunions, and partook in any event that had music and dancing. Boy did she love dancing! There was never a party that she did not dance at. Traveling to her hometown in Mexico was one of her favorite pastimes that she looked forward to yearly as she had a house there which she cherished.

Although Tina never married nor had any children of her own, she was a loving mother figure to many, including her countless godchildren, her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. No matter the biological lineage, you were her mijo or mija, and added ‘ito’ or ‘ita’ to your name. After the passing of her mother, she committed to caring for her father and brother.

Tina was preceded in death by her mother who passed away in 1993.

She is survived by her father Prudencio Pichardo, Brother Abelino Pichardo, Sister Dora Ortiz and brother in law Bryan Ortiz, Sister Sylvia Lizardo and brother in law Faustino Lizardo, Sister Anna Andalon and brother in law Rick Andalon. Her nieces and nephews are as follows: Arthur, Luis, Bryana, Juanito, and Amanda. Great nephews and nieces: Ayden, Anali, Layla, Leah.

Tina was a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, Godmother, Comadre, and friend who passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 12:03pm. She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to everyone who visited, called, texted, and offered prayers and support. A special thank you to all the medical staff at Kaiser Hospital and Hinds Hospice and to the staff at Tinkler Funeral Home.

Ernestina Reyes Pichardo, cariñosamente conocido por algunos como Tina, nació el 21 de julio de 1947 en Las Liebres, Jalisco, México, a sus padres Prudencio y Juanita Pichardo. Ella era la mayor de 5 hijos. Ella tenía principios humildes pero pronto aprendió la ética de trabajo duro y el valor de un dólar ganado. Realizó el octavo grado en México y fue traída a los Estados Unidos donde sus padres habían cumplido grandes sueños de vivir en América. Hicieron su casa en Fresno, California donde crearon sus cinco hijos. Los hermanos de Tina son Abelino, Dora, Silvia y Ana.

Tina entró en la fuerza de trabajo cuando ella era mayor de edad. Trabajó para varias empresas pero pasó los últimos 32 años en la compania Paper Converters. Ella amaba su trabajo y realmente apreciaba a sus administradores; sin embargo, sus compañeros de trabajo hicieron el día del trabajo más rápido a agradable. Ella también se enseno hacer costuras, se convirtió en estilista, y ofrecía masajes terapéuticos a sus amistades y familiares. ¡También, ella era una cocinera maravillosa! Nomás pregúntele a los que trabajaban con ella.

Unos de sus logros mayores fue cuando recibió su ciudadanía Estadounidense. Algo que le dio mucho orgullo. Sus pasatiempos favoritos eran ir al casino, asistir a fiestas familiares y reuniones y convivir en cualquier evento que tenía la música y el baile. ¡Ella le encantaba bailar! Nunca hubo una fiesta donde ella no bailaba. Viajar a su ciudad natal en México fue uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos que ella espera con interés anual ya que tenía una casa allí que ella estimaba.

Aunque Tina nunca se casó ni tuvo hijos propios, ella fue una figura de madre amorosa para muchos, incluyendo sus numerosos ahijados, sus sobrinas, sobrinos, gran sobrinas y gran sobrinos. No importa el linaje biológico, todos eran mijo o mija y ‘ito’ o ‘ita’ ella añadía a sus nombres con cariño. Después del fallecimiento de su madre, ella se dedicó a cuidar a su papa y hermano y aseguro que nada les faltara.

Tina fue precedida en la muerte por su madre, quien falleció en 1993.

Ella es sobrevivida por su padre Prudencio Pichardo, hermano Abelino Pichardo, hermana Dora Ortiz y su cuñado Bryan Ortiz, Hermana Sylvia Lizardo y cuñado Faustino Lizardo, hermana Anna Andalon y cuñado Rick Andalon. Sus sobrinos y sobrinas son Arturo, Luis, Bryana, Juanito y Amanda. Gran sobrinos y sobrinas son Ayden, Anali, Layla, Leah.

Tina era una hija, hermana, cuñada, tía, prima, madrina, Comadre y amiga que falleció el sábado, 20 de octubre del 2018 a las 12:03 de la tarde. Todos la extrañaremos enormemente.

La familia desea expresar el sincero agradecimiento a todos los que la visitaron, llamaron, mandaron un texto, y ofrecieron oraciones y apoyo. Un agradecimiento especial a todo el personal médico en el Hospital Kaiser y hospicio de Hinds, y al personal en la funeraria Tinkler.
