Nelson Almaguer was born on September 25, 1944 to Humberto and Alicia Almaguer in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

He passed away on August 20, 2019 leaving behind Elia Almaguer the love of his life for 50 years. Nelson and Elia met in 1969 when she was 20 and he was 25 years of age, it was love at first sight. During their life together they built their family which consisted of their 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In his passing he leaves behind many siblings and family that will miss him dearly.

Nelson was a loving, dedicated and hard-working man, he spent every day trying to care for everyone he had in his life. He was an honest and adventurous man who loved to travel and experience new things with his family. Nelson was only able to get a 6th grade education, he then needed to work odd jobs to help provide and support his family. He started truck driving at the age of 18 an occupation he loved and cherished for 54 years of his life. He never backed down from a challenge, he always stood his ground and was a man of his word. His determination allowed him to realize his dream of owning his own trucking business which he accomplished and was very successful.

Anytime you sat and talked with Nelson he would have you in stitches, he was extremely funny, he was a great story teller and would tell you jokes that he would add his own facial expressions and gestures just to make them even funnier.

Nelson always had his home, arms and heart open to everyone. He would never turn away from anyone who needed or asked for his help. He would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger if they needed it.

Before his passing he was visited by many who had come to know him. They respected and truly admired the man that he was. Many he had befriended in the very early stages of his life who commented what a great loss his passing was going to have on everyone who knew him. In speaking with his oldest granddaughter recently she made a statement that captured who he truly was in very few words…”He was a diamond in the rough.” She couldn’t have represented who he was any clearer. He will continue to be missed and loved by all, his passing is indeed a great loss.
