Johnette Terry O’Neal was born on August 21, 1937, in Marshall, Texas, to John and Elvie Terry. She graduated from Marshall High School, and attended Texas Tech University. She spent several years as a homemaker, raising her two children, and later worked for the City of Arlington, in Arlington, Texas. After a divorce, she moved back to East Texas, and worked for Fair Oil Co. She met and married Lynn O’Neal, of Tyler, Texas. After retiring, they lived for several years in Ruidoso, New Mexico. They later returned to Texas, and moved to Sun City in Georgetown in 2001, where they were active in the community and were members of First Presbyterian Church of Georgetown. They moved to Parkview Assisted Living facility in Frisco, Texas, in 2017, to be near family.
Although affected by a mental decline, Johnette enjoyed life and good health until suffering a pulmonary embolism the morning of September 14, 2018. She passed away peacefully, with both of her children at her side. She is survived by her husband, Lynn; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Kyle Bacon, of Frisco, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Sandy Gunter, of Flower Mound, Texas; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Bacon, Eric Bacon, Joshua Gunter, Lindsey Kim, and Austin Gunter; her great grandchildren, Madelene, Micah, Paul, Mary-Catherine, Clare, Christopher and Joseph Bacon, and Galen Gunter. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Pilar Terry; and her niece, Meghan Rao.
While she will be greatly missed, and always loved, we are comforted in knowing that she knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and that she was living fully until she passed, without suffering, into eternal life on September 14, 2018.
