Kathy Lamb Barlow

Kathy was born August 7, 1957, in Commerce, Texas and lived her entire life in the Dallas area. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted mother to two sons, Clinton Barlow (deceased) and Clayton Barlow.

Kathy attended North Mesquite High School, where she was a member of National Honor Society, cheerleader, Homecoming Queen and friend to many. Self-assured and possessed with a keen intellect, Kathy graduated early and, at age 16, began her career in the Legal Department of First International Bancshares while attending night classes at Dallas Community College.

Following the merger of First International and RepublicBank, Kathy was employed by Jones Day from 1987 until her retirement in 2005 from her position as Senior Legal Assistant. Kathy excelled at Jones Day and was respected, admired and loved by her colleagues.

At Jones Day, Kathy met the love of her life, soulmate and future husband, Mark E. Betzen. Kathy and Mark became inseparable and enjoyed more than 28 wonderful years together. While devastated by Kathy’s passing, Kathy’s many loved ones are grateful for the time they shared with her, particularly after she defeated a life-threatening breast cancer some 20 years ago. They are also comforted that Kathy is now at home with God and her loved ones who preceded her in death.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Lamb and Frances Phillips Lamb, and her son, Clinton Barlow. Kathy is survived by her husband, Mark E. Betzen, and her son, Clayton Barlow and many members of her and Mark’s extended families, by whom she was loved dearly.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Stonebriar Country Club, 5050 Country Club Drive, Frisco, Texas 75034.

The family recommends that any memorials be made to The American Cancer Society or other cancer-focused organization.
