

Don was born to Ruth and Earl Gillmore in Grand Junction, Colorado on December 16, 1932. After graduation from Grand Junction High School in 1950, he joined the Navy where he served 4 years aboard the destroyer, USS Mason during ;the Korean War. After his Honorable Discharge from the US Navy after 4 years, he joined the Colorado National Guard where he served for 36 years, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) in 1992. Don was a life member of the Elks and the VFW Post 41 in Loveland, Colorado. He was on the Honor Guard for years with the VFW and the Loveland Senior Police Volunteers.
Don was preceded in death by his mother Ruth and father Earl. Don is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Linda K. Gillmore. From a previous marriage he is survived by his daughters, Kellie Guinn of Loveland, CO., Kara Barrows of Placentia, CA., and sons Jamie Gillmore (Donna) of Jamestown, CO., Timothy Gillmore of Loveland, CO., step-daughter Keri M. Riggs of Warren AFB, WY., his sisters Mildred I. McKnight of Loveland, CO., Dorothy E. Thompson (Fred), of Montrose, CO., as well as 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Don “never knew a stranger.” He was the highlight of all gatherings with a great sense of humor and loved playing jokes on everyone. While we, his family and friends, shall grieve, we shall also celebrate Don’s life for he touched each and every one of us in profound and wonderful ways. We will miss him deeply but all the while knowing he is in God’s embrace.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 8, at 1:00 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 100 E. County Road, 30, Fort, Collins, Co. A Reception following at the VFW Post 41 in downtown Loveland.
