Val graduated from the Lake City High School in Lake City, Iowa. Then he served in the USAF as a weather observer. On April 12, 1958 he married Delores Marckmann.
They began to call Colorado home in 1961. They have 3 children, Vance, Melanie (husband Ken) Rojas, and Scot, and two grandsons, Zach and Logan Rojas.
Val’s business was in wholesale plumbing in Ft. Collins and Boulder, Colorado.
He was able to enjoy the mountains, fishing, working on cars, woodworking, listening to country music, and watching Broncos and Rockies games. He loved to travel and wished he could have done more.
His parents, Beryl and Amelia, sister Betty, and brother Don preceded him. Val is survived by one brother, Dennis, and several other relatives and in-laws.
Val’s family wishes to thank everyone who cared for Val at PVH, MCR, Centre Avenue Health and Rehab, Pathways Hospice, EMTs and transport drivers.
As Val requested, no public service is planned. If you would like to remember Val, please send a memorial to a charity of your choice. The family would appreciate receiving a card sharing a memory or an incident of happiness with Val.
